Saturday, June 12th: Charleston
"The Holy City"

After completing registration on Saturday, soak in the history and beauty of Charleston's homes and gardens. Stroll the famous Battery, renowned for it's stately antebellum homes, and gorgeous harbor view.  Harbor tours are also available and include a trip to Ft. Sumter where the first engagement of the Civil War took place.  



A short bike ride from the registration area takes you to
Patriots Point, a harborside naval and maritime museum t
hat is home to the USS Yorktown as well as many other
historical ships and war planes.












 
Sunday, June 13th: St. Stephen
"Where Nature and Adventure Come Together"

 

The St. Stephen Visitor/Outdoor Center serves as an eco-tourism headquarter, focusing on the northern area of Berkeley County. Hike through the trails or kayak through the magnificent cypress swamps and catch a glimpse of some Carolina wildlife in their natural habitats.  Organized hikes and kayak/canoe tours are available with nature guides as well as on your own.

 

The Sunday evening program will involve the spirited Ollie Buckles sharing the rich and fascinating history of the area, Dennis Shuler detailing the variety of  wildlife in Hell Hole Outdoor Center, and Jametrice Glisson telling traditional Gullah stories.  

 

 

 

 

 

Monday & Tuesday, June 14 & 15: Sumter
"The Middle of Everything"

The beautiful black waters of Swan Lake form the
setting for the spectacular Iris Gardens of Sumter.
The lake is dotted with colorful islands and wildlife is abundant. The only public park in the US featuring all eight swan species, the gardens are also home to some of the nation's most intensive plantings of Japanese iris.
If you're feeling artsy, downtown Sumter also boasts an historic Opera House with varying performances throughout the year.
During your stay in Sumter, enjoy a delicious bake sale filled with tasty treats at the Tennis Center Campsite held by Trinity United Methodist Church.


For our layover day, Tuesday, June 15, enjoy the following opportunities in Sumter:

Downtown Walking Tours with Sammy Way will be available at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.

-Please meet at Rotary Plaza on the corner of Main St. and Liberty St.


Opera House Tours will be available at 9:00 am, 11:00 am, and 1:00 pm.

-Please meet at the Opera House, 21 North Main St.


A classic movie will be shown at the Opera House at 2:00 pm as well.

Wednesday, June 16th: Orangeburg
"The Garden City"


Rated as one of the top 20 visitor attractions in SC, the Ediston Memorial Gardens are a place of history and beauty. Complete with a 2,600 ft. boardwalk through the Cypress wetlands, the park also features a boat dock, and butterfly garden. The gardens are open seven days a week and admission is free. 

Guided tours will be available for CSC participants, as well as shopping trips into the old downtown area.

 









Thursday, June 17: Walterboro
"The Front Porch of the Lowcountry"

Walterboro offers you an authentic small town experience.  This Lowcountry village features numerous antique and specialty shops, quaint restaurants, historic museums and one of the finest folk art and fine craft galleries in the Southeast.

 

The town will provide entertainment in Historic Downtown Walterboro, including discounts at the local shops, artist demonstrations, Museum programs, an ice cream social at the SC Artisans Center and a special “happy hour” at the Blarney Stone Pub between 3-6 pm.

 

Sit back and relax in Walterboro’s red rocking chairs and learn why they call themselves the “Front Porch of the Lowcountry”!
